Self-Love

Self-love is not a body shape or size, self-love is a mindset.
What is self-love?
Well, if we're honest self-love has become a bit of a buzz word hasn't it?
It's become glamorised into this elegant, beautiful, simple thing that you should just 'have'...
But in reality it's hard, it's confusing and can be completely confronting.
So what is self-love?
Self-love to me is being ok with where you are on your journey right now, being at peace with your body and having an unconditional love for everything you are. It is sometimes doing the things you don't really want to do (like having that hard conversation or saying no) simply because deep down you know it is what's best for you. It is this unconditional love for yourself.
Self-love is not a body shape or size. It's not how you look or what you weigh. It's a mindset. It's how you feel about yourself. It's how you speak to yourself. It's how you treat yourself. And self-love isn't even necessarily anything to do with your body. In fact, I believe the happiest people have complete body neutrality and don't even think about their bodies at all. However, I do realise that is a privilege that not everyone has. To me self-love is being accepting of everything you are. Your values, your morals, your personality, your ability to create and maintain relationships, how you show up in the world.
Self-love is always choosing yourself and always showing up for yourself, no matter what. But self-love is also keeping yourself accountable and keeping promises to yourself. If you say you are going to do something for yourself, you do it. Whether that is going to the gym or meditating daily, it is so important you keep those promises to yourself. Self-love isn't an excuse to be lazy. It isn't an excuse to go easy on yourself. It sometimes means tough love.
Your self-love journey won't be easy and it definitely won't be all butterflies and rainbows...
But I promise you, it will be so worth it.
